I was thinking about Christianity and this “local working class culture” vs. mass media, and how have local expressions of Christianity been replaced by mass media of “Christian” culture? Golger said in class that the working class stopped creating their own songs, pub culture, everyday life, and art once the TV and mass media came, because they would just go home and watch whatever was on the television. How have we stopped creating our own understandings of God, our own expressions of faith, because now we have this mass media pumped into us about Christ, such that I never really have to think or express what I really believe because I am lambasted with other people’s expressions of faith?
