Week 5- Bevans, Chapter 5

The anthropological model begins with a culture, in a culture, and looks to see how God is present in that culture. Divine revelation occurs through Scripture and tradition, but also equally through human experience. Bevans suggests to look at the anthropological model as “treasure hunting,” meaning that one is looking for ways that God is present in a culture and seeing the good in creation. This is a wonderful analogy for us to take into account as we encounter culture on an everyday basis: how and where is God in all of this? It allows for dialogue and humility.
